Caribbean Feather Duster (Small)
The species in this assortment are hardy filter feeders that do well in captivity and make an attractive addition to the reef tank community. The feather duster itself is a type of worm, that creates a protective casing to fill up the rock hole it lives in. Your feather duster may or may not come in that casing. This casing will likely cloud the water in shipping, it is normal and nothing to worry about.
Regularly blasting your rocks with a turkey baster will stir up fine particulate matter that will encourage your dusters to grow and possibly split. They may leave the casing they are shipped with to find a new home in your tank. Because of this, introducing them with the lights off a short distance from where you want them to live is a good strategy. Dusters shipped with their casings will arrive in dirty looking water, but they should be fine. These dusters will live in holes in your rock, and among macro algae and other structure.
While this is unfortunately a random assortment, it will only contain Sabellastarte sp. and Bispira variegata species. They have an adult crown that is larger in diameter than a quarter, and usually ship over a nickel in size. (The crown is the open portion of the duster, which is used for collecting drifting food).
This species requires Express Mail and does not qualify for free shipping.
